Many years ago when I was about eleven, my mother and I were in the backyard visiting with our elderly neighbor over the fence. He was a cranky but decent older man and his wife was as sweet as he was negative. He asked my Mom, “Does she realize she’ll be in a wheelchair one day?” I didn’t hear what my mother replied because I had walked away. I later asked my mother fearfully, “Will I be in a wheelchair one day?” She said “Only the Lord knows the future and no you won’t.” She always looked at the positive and didn’t want me to worry. Well, thank God He plans my future instead of that neighbor. I have had Rheumatoid Arthritis for almost 43 years now and am in a wheelchair only when I want to be (going to malls, etc.)!!!!!!! I walk and do my daily housework and at church and other places. I thank God for this wonderful life I’ve had.
Today I am thankful for:
-
My Heavenly Father who loves me unconditionally and hears me when I talk to Him and holds my future in His hands.
-
My lovely Mother who has been there to encourage me and support me every step of the way. When people have discouraged me, she has been there to lift me up and give me a positive attitude.
-
My sweet husband who got me coffee from McDonald’s yesterday. It was SO GOOD. He does little things like this a lot that mean so much.
-
My constant companion Tuffy. I love that dog more than I can say.
-
My Mother-in-law who has been so good to me.

You have a wonderful mother -and she must be so happy she raised you well. Like you, I am so fond of my mother and her strength just carries me through tough times. Thanks for sharing.
BTW, I think the “Tuffy for President” in the sidebar is cute.
It’s great that your Mother was such a great encourager! I know how debilitating RA can be! I love my dogs as well, they keep me sane when there is insanity all around me!
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I just wanted to let you know that I had someone redo my entire blog, I paid them 35 dollars and I am so happy I did.
Blessings
Gina you always have wonderful stories and a great outlook on life. I always get uplifted at your site.
My daughter in law has gotten arthritis in her knee. Is there something that she can use for the pain. Something that she can put on her knee?
Sweet blessings to you, and your precious mother.
This is such an inspirational post! Kudos to your mother! You have so many things to be thankful for! Bless you! I have arthritis in my hands and knees-but I am not treating it yet. I used to take Vioxx years ago-that stuff was great-then Wham-not good! Good Luck to you with your battle of RA!
What an inspirational post! Thank-you! (((hug))) It’s posts like this that remind me that even though I have epilepsy, I have a normal life and I must remember to be thankful to God for that.
Sounds like a harsh neighbor! … But what a wonderful mother! Loved the post… It’s always good to be reminded to count our blessings.
Gina,
I like Homesteadblogger a lot. I actually had a blog elsewhere and switched to homesteadblogger. I feel like I can do a lot more with the template and all. You will have to learn some html coding in order to work with your template. But I just started playing around with it and figured some things out. I also found a site that was very helpful on html codes. I’ll be glad to give you the link if you’d like it.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
